‘Door to Hell’ baffles scientists after burning endlessly for 40 YEARS

The 230ft-wide crater, known by locals in Turkmenistan as the ‘Door to Hell’, has baffled scientists since it first appeared more than 40 years ago. Originally a level surface, the site was identified by Soviet scientists in 1971 as an area that was believed to house a substantial oil field. However, the ground beneath the drilling rig soon collapsed, creating a wide crater that was believed to be releasing large quantities of methane gas, a potential danger to the nearby villages in Derweze, Turkmenistan.

Scientists decided that the most efficient way to solve the problem would be to burn off the poisonous gases — by doing so, it was expected that all of the gas in the crater would be burnt off within days. More than four decades later, though, the crater is still ablaze with endless flames and boiling mud – and hundreds of tourists flock to visit it every year. The Karakum Desert, where Derweze is located, has one of the largest gas reserves in the world. Turkmenistan hopes to up its exportation rate around 75 million cubic meters of gas in the next 20 years.

Mystery Scratches

P111210_02.19

Have you ever woken up in the morning to find strange and unexplained scratches or bruises on your body and in places you couldn’t have reached yourself. Well … even if you haven’t millions of others have. In fact, there are internet forums where people describe the phenomenon and desperately appeal for explanations and help. In most cases the scratches are mild and disappear in a day or two and the vast majority of these cases never get medically reported as the sufferers usually convince themselves that they are somehow self inflicted. Others attribute the injuries to bug bites, allergic reactions or even something that happened during the day that they failed to notice at the time.

Usually the incident is forgotten as soon as the bruises vanish or the scratches fade. However, persistent sufferers go to great lengths to rule out these possibilities. There have been cases of sufferers wearing gloves to bed, fumigating their houses and even taking full medical allergy tests all to no avail. In one case a woman went to the extreme length of having a friend watch her while she slept and still woke up with new bruises and scratches. According to her friend nothing strange happened except for a period when the victim tossed and turned restlessly for about 15 minutes. Doctors try to put forward rational explanations for this condition such as the skin disease Pityriasis Rosea but most of these thoroughly fail to convince those that have actually experienced it happening to them. The phenomenon has persisted through the centuries and in the past has been explained by demons, having-a-devil-on-your-back, goblin fury, divine punishments and even encounters with incubi or succubae. In some cases the victims report that in addition to the scratches and bruises they have other more disturbing injuries.

Hyper Perception

Image

The picture above is the Warwick Castle in England. Some years ago a member of the team visited the castle to take photographs and was so overwhelmed with a sense of having actually lived there before that he later spent months researching both the history of the Castle and his own family tree to see if there was any connection. He didn’t find one but still keeps looking. To test his own perceptions he visited the Castle again several years later and felt the identical sensation which he states he has never experienced anywhere else. This experience is termed as Hyper Perception.

Most people will experience Hyper Perception at least once or twice in their lifetime. This phenomenon usually occurs when a person visits a place they’ve never been before and yet experiences a very strong sense of familiarity. This should not be confused with déjà vu which is often fleeting and is really just a brief feeling of having seen or done something before. Hyper Perception is extended when the same person may perceive things about the place that they couldn’t possibly know. Unlike time slips or déjà vu, the feeling grows stronger the longer they stay and in some cases people have reported suddenly being aware of very clear memories of the place from other times often decades or even centuries in the past.

Tour guides in stately homes or other historic sites have become quite used to people coming up to them and saying things like “Wasn’t there a statue by that tree” or “Didn’t this floor used to be wood? In many cases the guides will admit that this used to be the case many years ago but they were moved or renovated. The guides then usually ask how the visitor knew this to which the answer is almost always: “I don’t know I just seem to remember it being that way”. In certain cases people who have experienced very strong hyper perceptions find the experience quite disturbing.

Time Slips

Mr Archie “Racer” Carmichael who was driving from Birmingham to London in 1953 when he stopped for a drink in a Cotswold village near Borton-on-the-Water. He parked his Austin-Healy 100/4 outside the local pub and entered for a drink. He was shocked when the he found the people inside the bar looked as if they were from an earlier century. His cautious attempts to communicate were ignored and after a few minutes the scene dissolved and Archie found himself being asked if he was alright by a worried looking barman. It seems that he thought he had seen ghosts but was probably experiencing a time slip.

Time slips occur when a current time (now) interlaces with a previous time (then) and can be experienced by the person from the more recent time. However, the event is usually unnoticed by the people from the earlier time. According to most accounts, time slips usually lasts for only a few seconds and the human brain does its best to filter out these anomalies. Over the years people have claimed that they’ve seen old airplanes parked in fields that were once airports or roman soldiers marching down their road.

According to great scientists such as Albert Einstein, time is not as stable as most of us think. As humans we’re adjusted to time and our evolution has established tricks to allow our conscious minds to deal with it but in reality it’s a slippery concept. Some other cases of time slips are mentioned below:-

  • This story is about two students who enjoyed spending time in a cemetery, studying Latin writings from ancient graves and other interesting monuments found there. One day, while they were translating a text from inside a crypt, one of them disappeared in front of the other one’s eyes. The second student looked for his friend in vain; later, he ran to the police and told them that his friend simply disappeared. The policemen did not believe him and thought that he murdered his friend and hid his body somewhere in the cemetery. So they went there looking for the missing student or signs of his murder. They found nothing, and because there was no proof to support the murder theory, the young man was not arrested. Some time later, the student decided to go and take another look at the crypt where his friend vanished and while he was looking around he found a writing underneath the one they were studying. It was from his friend, who traveled back in time and was not able to come back. Of course, the student ran to the police once again and just like the first time they did not believed him. They thought that he was the one who wrote the message, in order to support his theory. But the writing looked to be ancient, which puzzled the policemen even more. So they asked a specialist to come and date the writing, and the results were bone chilling. The student was telling the truth.

  • An intriguing photograph from the 1940s showing a man in modern clothing has been doing the rounds on the web. The photograph shows a crowd of people at the reopening of the South Fork Bridge in British Columbia, one of the people there however is wearing shades, a modern looking top and has a portable camera. The man with what appears to be very modern sunglasses seems to be wearing a stamped T-shirt with a nice sweater, all the while holding a portable compact camera!

  • Filmmaker George Clarke from Belfast thinks he’s come across something quite interesting — a women talking on a cell phone in 1928. The filmmaker shows the evidence in a YouTube video, taken from footage on a DVD of the premiere of Charlie Chaplin’s The Circus at Graumann’s Chinese Theatre in 1928, it looks like a woman is walking along the street at the premiere, with her hand held up to her ear as if she’s talking into a phone. But of course, there were no mobile phones in 1928 and we can clearly see her talking into the device. So what if she was experiencing a time slip ?

Toads in the Coal

Image

According to official and reputable sources there have been over 90 recorded unexplained cases of amphibians being found alive but fully encased in coal pockets or stone geodes. This is an unbelievable phenomena that until now it remains mystery with ongoing investigation and study, how the amphibians survived inside the coal without air and foods to eat. According to research from reputable sources, there are other unexplained cases that have been recorded related to amphibians being found alive inside the solid coal pockets or stone geodes.Of these cases, 40 involved frogs or toads.

There is a pattern to the various discoveries. In most cases the frog is discovered in a chamber full of mucous and is usually very pale or white in color. After a few minutes exposed to air it comes-to-life and is usually quite active for a short while before turning grey and apparently developing respiratory difficulties. In most cases the animal dies within 24 to 72 hours but there are some references that when these creatures were quickly allowed into fresh pond water they seem to have survived indefinitely.

Logically, these accounts of entombed amphibians seem impossible but it is worth noting that certain frogs do seem to have some ability to enter a state of suspended animation. Also, the most credible accounts of these incidents suggest that the “rocks” may have formed within the past thousands of years rather than millions. Finally, frogs and toads do burrow into soft “muds” that can appear to fossilise quite quickly and, in the correct environment  appear to turn to stone.

Zone of Silence

ImageImage

There is a patch of desert in Bolson de Mapimi, Mexico that has been the site of very strange radio wave phenomenon. It has been said that no radio, TV, short wave, microwave, or satellite signals can get into the zone. In July 1970, it’s said that a US military base in Utah launched a test missile that went way off course and crashed in the desert. A team was sent out to find the wreckage, and a road was built to transport it back. When the Air Force came to collect the missile’s wreckage, they noted that the area prohibited radio transmissions. They took along several truckloads of desert sand for analysis.

A few years later, an upper stage from one of the Saturn boosters used on the Apollo project broke up and crashed in the very same area. Again, the United States military sent a special team to the area to investigate its mysterious properties. The U.S. military team discovered that no radio signals could travel through the air. Television, radio, short wave, microwave, or satellite signals are unable to penetrate the area. Scientists are still trying to understand the unique properties of the area. High levels of magnetite have been discovered in the Zone of Silence and scientist have also noted that the area is a hot bed for meteorite activity. The area seems to attract metallic particles of extraterrestrial origin. On February 8, 1969, at 1:05 AM in the morning, a huge meteorite hurtled into the area known as Pueblito de Allende. Locals compared the sight of the meteor to “staring into a flashbulb”. The original stone was the size of an automobile and moved at a speed of more than 10 miles per second. The impact produced a massive shock wave that could be heard for many miles. To date, the Allende Meteorite is the largest meteorite ever found on earth.

Strange orbs, lights, and UFOs have been spotted in the zone as well as reports of three blond, humanoid creatures. Several people claim that they request water and nothing else, and when asked where they are from they reply “from above”

Room 428

Image

This room, located at Ohio University, is unavailable to students. It has been boarded up and closed off because of various paranormal reports regarding the room. Poltergeist activity has been felt: objects flying across the room, doors that open and shut by themselves, and dark shadows appearing and disappearing without explanation. The creepiest thing about this room is the demon-like face that appears in the wood grain of the door. The door has been replaced multiple times only to have the face appear again. The apparition is known to be playful, and is said to be the spirit of a student that committed suicide in the room.

Calls From Beyond

ImageImage

On 12 September 2008 at 4:22 p.m. in California’s San Fernando Valley, a commuter train carrying 225 riders collided with a freight train in what came to be known as the Chatsworth crash, 135 people were injured and 25 died. One of the deceased was 49-year-old Charles E. Peck. His fiancee heard about the crash from a news report on the radio as she was driving to the train station to pick up her intended. Peck’s parents and siblings joined her. Peck’s body was recovered from the wreckage 12 hours after the accident.

Yet for the first eleven of those hours, his cell phone placed call after call to his loved ones, calling his son, his brother, his stepmother, his sister, and his fiancee. In all, his various family members received 35 calls from his cell phone through that long night. When they answered, all they heard was static; when they called back, their calls went straight to voice mail. But the calls gave them hope that the man they loved was still alive, just trapped somewhere in the wreckage. The barrage of calls prompted search crews to trace the whereabouts of the phone through its signal and to once again look through the wreckage. They finally found Peck’s body about an hour after the calls from his cell phone stopped. The rescuers said that his body showed no sign that he lived even for a short time after the crashCharles Peck had died on impact. Yet long past his death, his cell phone had continued to reach out to many of those he cared most about, and ultimately led rescuers to his mortal remains.

The Paulding Light

Image

The Paulding Light, also called the Lights of Paulding or the Dog Meadow Light is a light that appears in a valley that lies outside of Paulding, Michigan. People have reported seeing these mysterious lights for 40 years. To this day you can see them on almost any night. It looks exactly as if someone was carrying a lantern. The light is a large orb that takes up quite a bit of the horizon. The colors reported range from red to white to green. It starts to get closer to us and then it would vanish and start all over again each time moving towards us faster and faster. There are some haunting legends for this phenomenon.

The story of the Paulding Light goes that one night an oncoming train crushed a railroad switch-man as he tried to direct the sleeping conductor with his lanterns. Another story claims it’s the ghost of a man who was in the woods searching for his son with a lantern and killed by an on coming train. Regardless, this unexplained orb of light has been appearing for 40 years and remains a mystery. Park rangers have even placed signs to show the best spot to view it from.

Spontaneous Human Combustion

Image

The highly-decorated former soldier Frank Baker, who served in the US Army in Vietnam had been preparing to go on a fishing trip with his friend Pete Willey when fire suddenly engulfed his body. His body suddenly burst into flames while he was sitting on the sofa. He is the only known survivor of the unexplained phenomenon known as spontaneous human combustion.

Mr Baker said
” I had no idea what was taking place on my body — none, we were getting ready for fishing and sitting on            the couch, Everything was great “

Eventually they got the flames extinguished. More than 200 cases of spontaneous human combustion have been reported around the world. Most involve a victim burning almost completely — although their extremities may remain intact — while their surroundings remain unburned. The victim is almost completely consumed, usually inside his or her home. Coroners at the scene have sometimes noted a sweet, smoky smell in the room where the incident occurred.

What makes the charred bodies in the photos of spontaneous human combustion so peculiar is that the extremities often remain intact. Although the torso and head are charred beyond recognition, the hands, feet, and/or part of the legs may be unburned. Also, the room around the person shows little or no signs of a fire, aside from a greasy residue that is sometimes left on furniture and walls. In rare cases, the internal organs of a victim remain untouched while the outside of the body is charred.

Not all spontaneous human combustion victims simply burst into flames. Some develop strange burns on their body which have no obvious source, or emanate smoke from their body when no fire is present. And not every person who has caught fire has died — a small percentage of people have actually survived what has been called their spontaneous combustion.

Boffins who studied the phenomenon in 1984 concluded most victims had been near fire sources when they burst into flames — and continued to burn because of flammable clothing and excess body fat or the high alcohol content in the body. However, Mr Baker, who lives in Vermont, US, does not believe this was the case for him.

“The doctor called (me), and said, ‘Frank, this burned from the inside out,'” he said.
